Mindful Leadership

Mindfulness and meditation programs are moving well into the mainstream in the areas of stress relief, well-being, and employee engagement. But there is a larger frame emerging of mindfulness as a source and foundation for larger strategic initiatives designed to equip organizations and people to be more competitive, resourceful and resilient in a volatile, uncertain world. How do mindfulness practices help executive leaders be more effective in this environment? In this interactive session, Thea Polancic of ClearSpace will draw on her experiences working with CEOs and senior teams using mindfulness as an integral part of developing intimate, effective high performance teams and purpose-driven, highly profitable organizations Also presenting will be Deb Smolensky.

 As a result of attending this program, participants will:

Learn the various definitions of mindfulness and explore the speaker’s use and definition of mindfulness

  • Gain an understanding of why mindfulness has become a popular topic
  • Get first-hand experience in how mindfulness is used with an executive leadership team
  • Learn how to make the case for using mindfulness with achievement oriented leaders

Thea is the Managing Partner of ClearSpace, LLC (www.clearspace.net), a Chicago-based consulting firm that helps CEOs transform themselves, their teams and organizations to meet the challenges of the future and grow and thrive. Over the past 15 years, Thea has worked closely with many senior leadership teams to align their organizations with the principles of Conscious Capitalism: having a higher purpose, creating value for all stakeholders, developing servant leaders, and having healthy, values-based cultures. Her firm’s clients include organizations large and small across the country. She is a founding mentor to Chicago accelerators TechStars Chicago and The Impact Engine. She is also on the Advisory Board of the Conscious Venture Lab in Columbia, Maryland; an accelerator for early stage conscious capitalist and purpose-driven companies.

Deb Smolensky is passionate about helping people live their best lives at work. Deb is an employee engagement leader leader and Wellness Director at NFP, specializing in strategy, design and administration of worksite well-being solutions. Over the past 20 years Deb has received a multitude of certifications and designations in this field and consults with a variety of clients, including numerous Fortune 500 companies, to develop programs and next practices that empower employees and leaders to lead healthy, productive lifestyles through innovative and highly engaging solutions.  She is VP and Global Practice Leader, NFP and a WELCOA Faculty Member.

Deb is also the CEO and Co-Founder of the Mindful City Project, a grassroots community movement uniting individuals, businesses and community leaders under the common tenants of mindfulness, emotional intelligence, compassion and generosity through a transformative framework and groundbreaking designation process.
